Just started a batch of beer that calls for vanilla extract. I have some, but not enough. However, I DO have 1 bean. I'm thinking of just combining the two to get the right flavor, but what is the preferred method of using whole bean vanilla? I've never used it in a brew. Would i cut it and scrape out the seeds, or can i just toss the whole bean in my primary?? thanks for the advice!!

You can add the vanilla bean to a little bit of vodka and make a tincture, or you could do the scrape method and boil it with a little bit of water for a very short period just to ensure its sanitized.
