so i took a peek at the brew. all the stuff at the top of the brew that kinda looks like mold apparantly is starting to sink, and the bubbles in the airlock are few and far between. is this a good indication that its nearing time to rack into secondary? im leaving for oklahoma on thursday and im hoping that i will be able to move it without doing it too soon. someone please help lead the blind :)

I usually wait until the bubbles are 45-60 seconds apart, then rack.

Taking hydrometer readings that are consistantly the same for 2-3 days in a row is the ideal way to tell, but I never do that. I just count the bubbles. Hasn't failed me yet, AFAICT.

oh i was gonna move the thread, but thanks anyways. ok so you think ill be allright if i rack it over tommorrow or thursday?

spend some time with my family. im in the air force and stationed in omaha NE. my wife went down there last weekend but i had to work this week. i see your from bethany. im from pawhuska. its near bartlesville. tiny little town.

oh yeah and i guess when i cracked the lid earlier i let any built up co2 pressure out. its not bubbling as we speak. but it was a slow bubble before. i would say 20-30 seconds.
