Hey guys,
With the dark beer season almost upon us, I have been considering purchasing a stout faucet but I really don't have the room to add beergas or nitrogen to my kegerator. So if I do purchase a stout faucet and supply it with only co2, will I get a similar effect?

George

You can get it to work, but it's a hassle. You would need to be very careful about keeping your carbonation levels low. If you go over 1.8 volumes, you'll get nothing but foam. In order to overcome the pressure plate and properly get the cascading pour you need to temporarily crank up your co2 to about 25-35 psi. Right after pouring, you need to turn the pressure back down to levels low enough to maintain the mild carbonation and purge the keg of the excess pressure. Many co2 regulators are not reliable at the ultra low pressures needed to keep the carb at the right level. Also, keg lids could easily lose seal at those pressures, perhaps wasting your whole tank.

Personally I would save up for a full nitro rig, or buy one piece at a time. The faucet can be used as a normal faucet if you take the restrictor plate out.

I think you should commit to getting everything (even it it's over time like masonjax suggests) or just get a Perlick 575, with the creamer to knock out some of the CO2.
