Everything I have seen or read about washing yeast mentions storing the washed yeast in mason jars or the like. Is there a reason that storing the washed yeast in cleaned and sanitized beer bottles, capped, and stored in the same manner would not work?

Any sanitized container would work. Mason jars just seem to work well because of the large open tops and are tempered glass so they can be sterilized. I just don't think the narrow opening on the bottle is as user friendly.

This is why I use jars as well. They're a whole lot easier to deal with than bottles.
