Hello! I was wondering, if I have 5.4 lbs or 18.6% of oats and 1 lb rye or 3.5% in my grain bill, is a step infusion necessary or could I get away with just doing a single step? Thanks in advance!

The general rule is that if you have 20% or more of non malted grains in your grain bill you should do a protein rest.
According to what you said you’re right around it.
But there’s many people that don’t do it and still have great results, but by don’t doing it may yields a more turbid beer

For me it comes down to - Can you fairly easily. If you're electric indoors or gas outdoors in a warm climate, then you should be able to and I would (as I do for summer here).

If you can't do it easily, then skip it (as I do currently for winter here).

Thank you everyone for your reply, I appreciate your input and I will post photos of the results!
