Starter ?

I just did my first starter. I was in a hurry to get it done before I went to a Halloween party tonight and forgot to boil DME and water. I just mixed DME and water in flask put it on stir plate and added yeast. Did I just waste this yeast or will it still work?

Personal opinion.

You are risking an infection. Yeast is relatively cheap compared to the entire cost of a batch. Make a new starter.

Did you sanitize the flask first?

The starter will take off, as DME dissolves readily even in cold water.
