This is my first time using my handy dandy DIY stirplate and as I have yet to purchase a flask, I'm using a glass Apothecary looking thing that I picked up at hobby lobby.

The biggest size they had was 1L. Will my 1L starter be too much for it? will there be a big foamy head spilling out onto the table. SWMBO has been eyeballing it because ofthe funny noises the vortex makes and I'd hate for her to walk into the kitchen an see the Krausen making a break for freedom.

Usually you don't get a big Krausen for starters, but you never know, depends on the yeast and initial cell count. Make sure your starter wort doesn't exceed 1.040
