Is there a way to determine the difference in the color of a brew based on the type of extract you use?

If I brew a beer with extra light DME, and then brew the exact recipe using LME instead (no scorching), is there a way to know how much darker the LME version will come out?
 
Most of the manufactures make public the color rating of their extract. But I've seen them qualify that by stating the color will/can change. So their rating will offer a rough guide.
