Hey everybody, new brewer here and I have a quick question.

I have been looking at making my own bottling bucket from a 2 gallon icing bucket from my local bakery. The spigots at my LHBS and online say "for 6.5 to 7.9 gallon buckets." Would it be okay to use one of these or are there smaller spigots that can be used for 2 gallon buckets?

First of all why do you want a two gallon bottling bucket? If your only making 1 gallon batches I can understand, but you may want to plan for a bigger future. A spigot meant for a larger bucket will probably work as long as the difference in curvature between a two and a 5 gallon bucket is not too extreme. When I made my bottling bucket I reused a spigot that came with my 10 gallon Rubbermaid cooler. I went to the hardware store and bought some rubber washers to make it fit tight. good luck
