Hey gang,

I have an English Porter in the fermenter now and was looking forward to adding just a small bit of vanilla and Makers Mark Bourbon. Then the thought hit me to try swapping the Makers Mark for Captain Morgans Spiced Rum which is my brothers favorite.

Think I just might split this batch in half, Bourbon in one and Captain's in the other.

Thoughts on how these flavors will blend?
Any starting amounts for the Captain's in approx 2.5 gals?

Here is my English Porter Recipe
I seem to like DME over LME to reduce the molasses/caramel flavor.
These ingredients were split in half and brewed in 2 batches to get a full boil.
3 lbs of Pilsen Light DME
3 lbs of Dark DME
1 lb. Caramel 80L, milled (Steeped for 15 mins)
1 lb. Chocolate Malt, milled (Steeped for 15 mins)
1 oz Fuggle hop pellets (Started at 40 mins remaining)
1 oz Keng Golding hop pellets (Started with 5 mins remaining)
1 vial While Labs, English Ale WLP002

Thanks in advance

Anyone ever added Captain Morgans to a Porter or similar??

Nope, doesn't sound bad though. You could always just try a small amount in a glass of your homebrewed porter and see ho-w you like it though, right?

Well gang, cracked the first of 4 bottles with Vanilla Captain Morgans English Porter, must say, not too good. It's not strong on either flavor, they just don't seem to go together. Definitely sweeter but I am not a fan.

Think I will stick to Vanilla Bourbon Porter, that is really good :ban:
