Ok I have debated posting this, but I want to make sure I am doing this math correctly so bear with me. I searched for this issue because I thought it was brought up before but after a few hours I gave up.

My question is if my original gravity for Apfelwein (without adding dextrose) was 1.046, and I added 2 lbs of dextrose what will my O.G. be for the batch? Note I made a 5 gallon batch of Apfelwein.

What I came up with is using the 1.046 S.G. points per gallon per pound for dextrose provided by ProMash, is .046 / 5 = .0092 which multiplied by 2 = .0184. Add this to my O.G. of 1.046 to get an adjusted O.G. of 1.0644.

When I take this number and subtract my target F.G. of .999 (what I got on my first batch) i get a ABV of 8.5 which is in line with the recipe.

Did i do this correctly? Thanks for helping me with my terrible math skills.

This thread might help.
