So about 12 hours ago I pitched a wash of wyeast 568 with 0.5cups of dme and 2cups of water. I neglected to top up with another 2 cups of water.

Can I just add more water or do I wait say 2 days, do a refractor test and basically step up?

I just did this today. Made wort of OG 1.035-40 last night that started at 1 quart, but boiled down to a pint. I pulled out a small jar of washed us-05 and let it warm (and the wort cool) overnight. This am I didn't like the volume of wort and added another pint of boiled H2O. Cooled that and pitched the yeast, shaking for agitation and oxygenation. Will see how it comes along throughout day and tomorrow. Fingers are crossed!
