Silicon Tubing for 3/8" brass barb

Hi,
I am operating an steam-infusion mash set-up so I need a tight fit over a 3/8" barb. I would still like to be able to disassemble things for cleaning. Should I use a 3/8" or 5/16" silicon tubing from MMC ( 5157K44 and 5157K53).

I used the 1/4" ID x 7/16” OD crush-resistant, high temp. silicone tubing, McMaster Carr # 3184K1 over a 1/4 inch brass barb.
