Anyone have issues with the shank/wood collar interface? I'm designing my keezer and it looks like I'll need a really long shank. Is anyone doing anything to protect the wood collar from any condensation that might form around the shank? Thanks as always!

Most of us make collars out of one-by, with some insulation on the inside. I just using a standard-length shank. 3" or 4" or something along those lines.

I stained/polyd the outside, but I didn't treat the wood on the inside. Not worried about any condensation. Also, all condensation (I didn't seal my collar perfectly.) on mine forms down on the freezer walls, never on the top.

Thanks for the quick reply. It looks like I'll need a 5 1/8 shank.

Yeah, I get plenty of condensation in my cooler already. I'm about to order a Eva-dry renewable wireless humidifier. It's small and cheap.
