I don’t want to open a Taproom or bar, in my daydreams I just want to be able to hand my wine off to a local distributor I know and see how it does. Curious if anyone has tried this.

Has anyone sold their Beer / Wine commercially to local tap rooms or stores? I don't know if it varies by state or is federally the same laws?

No. Can't do it. To sell alcohol you need to be federally- and state-licensed for tax purposes. Where you brew it also has to be commercially zoned, inspected, water system has to be checked out, proper sanitation, be subject to FDA and ABC inspections, etc. If you plan to package and label it, you also have to have the packaging and labeling approved. I had a friend who started with this idea. Roughly $100,000 later he was up and running.
