Hey all,

I am on my second extract brew and had a question about aging/clarifying the beer in the secondary.

Should I keep it at the same temp as I did the primary or keep it cooler so the yeast drops out?

Thanks for the help and Cheers :mug:

The secondary temperature doesn't really matter all that much as long as it is reasonably stable and not extremely warm. Keeping it cool or cold (lagering) will help it clear more quickly. Note, however, that over the past few years the practice of using a secondary for clarifying the beer has fallen out of favor a bit. You can achieve equally good results by keeping the beer in the primary for longer. Finings will accelerate the clearing of the beer further. Secondaries are now more commonly used for secondary fermentations (e.g. of fruit) or for extended bulk aging/lagering.
