OG was 1.062.
At the end of Primary it was 1.022.
1 week in secondary -still 1.022

My question is when I prime and bottle condition for 3 weeks will the Gravity lower some more?

The good thing is it smells just like Newcastle! Yum!!!!!

Your OG was 62. Divide that by 4 (average FG of 75% reduction) equals 15.5

Since your gravity is now at 22 then your brew's really not done fermenting.

Chances are your fermentation is stuck. You have 2 options.

1. Pitch more yeast. Not always the preferred method because temperature plays an active role in fermentation.

2. What's the temp of your brew? Most ales like 68-75F and lagers 55-65F.

If your brew is within those temperature ranges then you should give your fermenter a little shake to rouse the yeast and/or raise the temp (if necessary).

If none of these work within a day or so then you can pitch more yeast.

What yeast are you using, and what is the recipe? What is the expected fg according to the instruction sheet?

65 degrees is actually pretty good for most yeasts!

I've had yeast finish in this range before. What yeast did you use? I agree with YooperBrew. 65º is a good temperature for fermenting ales.

It was Muton and Fison ale yeast. Dried.
I rehydrated it as suggested.
I moved it to a closet that is about 68-69 degree room. we'll see what hapens.

As far as Gravity-
OG is supposed to be 1.052-1.056
FG is stated to be in the 1.010-1.012 range.

I've read that this is a 'Target Range' and it could change with different ingredients and such.

I moved it because the gravity was staying at 1.022. I read that afetr 3 readings with no change in gravity to go to secondary.

exactly how many days was this in primary?

and did you use the kit straight, or did you modify the recipe? its pretty hard to not hit the OG range on an extract kit unless you add the wrong amount of water, so I'm not so sure your 1.062 OG was an accurate reading.

have you calibrated your hydrometer with 60F tap water? it should read 1.000

The recipe was followed and it was in primary for 7 days.

I have another post in extract brewing threads about another S.G reading
