Screw on beer caps?

Can a Homebrewer use screw on caps? We can all get “screw lid” bottles for free.

BTW I think it could work fine for be that's already carbonated (bottling off a keg, for example).

But for bottle conditioned beer, the cap might not hold. And if it does, those bottles are quite often thinner than our usual bottles and might not withstand the pressure of conditioning. I.e. bottle bombs.

So probably not a great idea.
