Hi all. I’m still relatively new to brewing and have just put on a batch of IPA from a kit.

Due to a combination of poor instructions and my own idiocy, the brewers yeast ended up in the fermenter when the liquid was still quite hot (made up of boiling water having had just a few mins to cool). It was probably about 80C/175F if not hotter.

I presume I have killed the yeast and ruined the brew - is there any point allowing it some time to see if it ferments or should I tip it and start again?

Doh!

I am sure you won't make that mistake again. Probably took me at least 5 brews before I exposed and learned from all of the erroneous information in "kit instructions". Now if I goof up, like forget to insert the racking tube in the fermenter, its totally on me. Its all a process to perfection from production, through ferementation, packaging, and consumption. Enjoy the journey.
