Has anyone tried to make any of that Schmirnoff ice stuff? I haven't done much research & I have no idea what it is fermented from. But I do know my wife likes it & it would be cool if I could make something similar...any thoughts?

I'm fairly certain smirnoff ice is just basically a mixed drink, with some kind of fruity tonic mixed with vodka. I don't think it is fermented as is

I haven't read it on here yet, but it seems like you could mix up a GIANT mixed drink ( a bottle of vodka, a couple of bottles of cranberry, some lemon juice and some water) plop it in a keg, force carb at 30 psi and serve up "tart-fuel" ... Holy crap I wish I would have come up with THAT 15 years ago !!!!

It's marketed as a "malt beverage," which means it has to have some fermented content (rice, simple sugars?). However, the idea of kegging a mixed drink seems far easier than trying to duplicate the artificial flavors in those things via fermentation.

Its only been 10mins since I posted, but I'm going to agree with myself that kegging s mixed drink would be great !!!! Has anyone tried it ?.

There are recipes on here for hard lemonade and hard iced tea. I've never tried anything like that, but to get homebrewed smirnoff ice you could probably adapt one of those recipes.

I can't keg, I went with the all grain upgrade instead(post will be here today!). Maybe I could mess around with smaller batches & bottle it to carbinate it. If someone does duplicate it, it will make my kegging upgrade an easier sell to my wife!HAHA! One of us may stumble upon the next 'schmirnoff'!

In the US it's fermented malt beverage, in Europe it's a bottled mixed drink with vodka.

I think it might be illegal to sell prepared, bottled mixed drinks in the US(or something like that is the reason for the difference).

It is the same here in Australia, it is a mixed drink with vodka, loaded with sugar, colours and flavourings.
