scale in carboy

hi guys,
brand spankin new to the homebrew just got my first 5 gallon carboy for free. problem is some kind of scale on the bottom. currently soaking in vinegar, any suggestions??

vinegar will work to free up that trub, but go get yourself a tub of oxyclean for next time. About a quarter scoop in a carboy with hot water will disolve all of the crud. Some people prefer to scrub with a carboy brush, but others feel it isn't necessary

Get a carboy brush from your LHBS or mailorder. It will help you scrub the interior of the carboy.
