For the record: I love your beer & geear pics. If it's not an invasion of privacy, how about a picture of that part off to the right of your fermenters that looks to be a well laid out 'wall of power'? My comment about hd pics posted by people with more money than brains is directed at a very specific type of narcissist

Lol.. appreciate it! I was being a bit facetious in my original reply. 😁 I know the bits of equipment I've gathered up for my makeshift brewery pale in comparison to some of the setups I've seen on here! As for the wall of power, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's the power/control array for one of my other hobbies. In some of my photos, there's a noticeable blue hue in the room.. that's due to the LED lighting for my salt water aquarium. That's what the control board is for. 😎

Just testing my prototype keg/fermenter-washer/CIP... Here's some beautiful Gear Porn™️:

Unfortunately the spray ball doesn't fit inside glass carboys, but I'm trying to phase those out. I've mounted the sprayball on a QD so I can also use it in my keggle lid: a domed 1.5"TC SS Brewtech Brewbucket lid which a perfect match for my 303mm keggle opening that I bought for my steam condenser. ...Yes I know I have to put a cross in with ball lock > NPT connectors, but I don't seem to have bought those yet. :p ..for now I'll just put some PBW in it and recirculate with my carbing pump.

EDIT: I'm still learning how to properly insert images. 😁

Ok let's get this thread back on topic....

FINALLY remembered one that bugs the absolute hell out of me.

Hey guys I'm a new homebrewer just got a mr beer kit from my auntie she had it for a while so I'm wondering if it's any good do I need to do anything different oh and I don't have a way to keep the temperature stable can I just stick it in my closet and call it good until it's ready for secondary because that's what the instructions said and I don't have any sanitiser can I use bleach will it still be good thanks.

PUNCTUATION!!!!!! ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!! I can overlook spelling errors but something like the above makes my head and eyes spin like an out of control something that spins.

*edit The above isn't an actual post from HBT, just something I made up as a mishmash of many posts we've all seen.

It just needs a few hundred more words to become a brain-breaking wall of text! Extra points for all lower case or capitals.

You forgot to tell us what he chose for his username...Something along the lines of "Super Bestest Brewery"? :p

One that bugs the hell out of me, and asking your opinion: Someone posts a question which is almost identical to someone else's ongoing thread on the same subject not half a page down the 'New Posts'....Didn't even bother looking first!
Your opinion; Should they just join in the ongoing problem, re; "I have the same problem, but this is my gear.." or is it quasi-hijacking and rude?

These (duplicate posts) are the bestest topics ever when cross posted to a different home brewing site! Grab some popcorn and cheer for your favorite site as the replies role in!

i so want to start an account on another homebrew forum now, call myself jaegermeister......see if anyone recognizes my 'style'...it'd be funny...(but they'd have to like give away beer glasses or something to steal me away from HBT.....

Three posts on the first 'new posts' page today asking essentially the same thing they can find if they just read the first posts, essentially; "I did what the instructions said and it's doing what the instructions said, but I wanna ask without looking to see if anyone else asked EVER, is it doing what the instructions told me it would do?"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:agressive:

the public are just so willfully stupid to get it?

no, not really? i find it's better to make them feel comfortable enoug to speak their minds....with out feaar of me trying to degrade them for what ever creative fun ideas they might have...no matter how off the wall they are! :mug:

edit: to the point, i'm not a soldier for gangsters and have no interest in helping them keep people to scared to think for themselves....

i'd SOOO much rather make them feel peaceful and easy, comfortable enough to not worry about 'wrong think', and getting a gangsta beat down for it...
.

is this drunken rambling? i forget, could be brew science....i always get my ass kicked there! ;)

(but on a side not passedpawn say's i'll be cool enough to talk to him if this 500x digital scope let's me do cell counts! mcmullan still calls me a loser for using meth though, says it's lame and i should be trypin'! 🤣)

That's why I've been playing dumb since grade school, followed up with a deliberate 'grubby' and 'creepy' look...keeps the judgemental folk at bay.
...with out feaar of me trying to degrade for what ever creative fun ideas they might have...no matter how off the wall they are!
the non-judgemental and creative types don't even notice the shell, they're only interested in what is behind the eyes, and it's as good to be one of the few that love the off the wall as to be the one who suggests it to another open mind.

Yeah...and serve me my burger! Only a below-average intellect or judgemental person reacts to me as a threat, and if they can't put aside their own mental laziness, then I just want them to fill the role that puts them in my path efficiently and breifly and be gone so I can move on to someone I can actually communicate with who hasn't erected the arbitrary and archaic social boundaries that prohibits seeing 'something new'
Maybe it is drunken rambling and I was gonna visit that thread.. but hey... :)
I'll be searching back on your posts if I can ever get into the mycology part of all this, as I'm already impressed by the picks of your mushroom gear.
:mug:

Yeah...and serve me my burger!

i'll flip your burger with a smile! :mug:

i plan expanding the mushroom growing thread with pics of it all in action here in a couple weeks....

my comment was just my rational brain noticing some weird phenomenon in other people, when i'm trying to make sure i'm thinking for myself, all slowly and to my best ability rationally, and flip out and get all energetic, and start getting upity and yelling at me? like they got scared of thinking something or something?

I haven't been here for a long time, but I'd say take all advice with a giant bag of rock salt. I've had good advice and extremely bad advice. Luckily nothing has ruined my beer, but at least one batch suffered like a sickly orphan.
Something I've found, and its true on every forum, if you stick around long enough and read enough, you'll figure out who knows their **** and is worth listening to.

So I'm thinking now that necro posts do actually have their place... I just answered a question a member posted in a 12-year old post because his question wasn't covered in the original and it occurred to me that he probably got there using the 'search', thus: It was not 'necro-posting', but recycling!
Thinking further, I thought about the post I made about duotight/perlick compatibility and it struck me that if every post about that subject were under one thread, it would be a very long thread and maybe even encourage both Perlick and Kegland to register as members here and answer the issue once and for all.
Oh; To that end, if you'd like to join an email campaign to encourage them to do just that:

I only talk to myself when I need expert advice.
You win this one, Gandalf. ;)

"...I was talking aloud to myself. A habit of the old: they choose the wisest person present to speak to..."

Even as a kid, that was one of my favorite quotes from The Lord of the Rings (the book). It grows on me ever more, as I grow older. ;)

I work with a fair few new brewers and this one drives me up the wall...

"I don't want to go all grain, it's too expensive."

The above is often coupled with, "I thought it was supposed to be cheaper to make beer."

Then, when you do get the SOBs to go all grain, they complain about the cost of getting a mill....

Ugh.

At least 4 people appear to have signed up today for the purpose of adding their 2-cents to dead threads.

Take a look at this thread on another XenForo forum that I am a member of.

I'm not saying that everyone who joins and then resurrects a zombie thread is a spammer, but it seems this is a common strategy for spammers to slip in unwanted links.
