I haven't bottled a lot of beer since I bought my first corny 8 years ago, but I've come to believe that some style require bottling and I also want to make more "aging" beers.

To help with the agony of bottling, I got a bottle tree with a santizer injector. However, is a thorough rinse of the inside of a clean bottle enough to sanitize it using star san, or do I need to switch sanitizer or soak the bottles in star san?

Those with experience, please advise.

(PS, I've read what star san says: 1 minute contact. But I don't know if there's one minute contact when using my bottle tree and santizer injector.)

I use the Vinator (assuming that is what fits on your bottle tree). I spritz the inside of the bottles then put them on my dishwasher rack. I do all the bottles then they drain, I then fill all the bottles one at a time and place a cap on top. I then go back and cap them all. I have read that thirty seconds is enough and that if you don't rinse or let them dry they are still sanitized. If they are upside down (even if the surface dries) you are safe.

StarSan has served me well.

I'm not an expert. But I have been brewing for a little while now. I've never had an infection or sanitation problem. That being said...

In my experience..

As long as the entire surface that your brew is touching, has also touched (the proper dilution) of Starsan, for a couple seconds, you will be fine. Hope this helps.

As long as the bottles are already clean, the spritz of StarSan with the Vinator coats the inside of the bottle and does a great job of sanitizing. No soaking is needed. Bottle while they're still wet inside with StarSan.

The surface has to stay wet with starsan for the 30 seconds, this doesn't mean it has to soak. Once you spray the inside it's going to stay wet for a while.
