So I picked up an aquarium pump aeration system with an inline air filter the other day. It came assembled which is great except when it comes to sanitizing it.

I can't disconnect the hose from the air filter. It is too tight.

So, how do I properly sanitize this system with the air filter in the hose line. I tried just filling the hose with StarSan as close to the air filter as possible, but doesn't seem like a great long term plan.

Any suggestions?

I have a similar setup, but have never had to sanitize the inside of the hose - just soak the airstone in starsan and spray the tubing with starsan before plunking it into the carboy. You could definitely take the airstone off, and spray some starsan up inside the tubing, but I am not sure much wort gets inside the air tube (at least it hasn't for me and I've brewed a half-dozen batches with this setup)
