After another PID Auto-Tune issue I'm thinking of trying a batch without recirculation.
I cool my wort with a 30ft CFC it is easy to sanitise using the pump I just recirculate through it for 10 minutes or so.
I've tried draining the kettle under gravity through the pump (without the pump running) into the CFC and I can go straight to pitching temperature.
If I'm not going to recirculate the pump seems an over complication so I'd like to drain the kettle under gravity through the CFC without a pump in the system.
What I don't know how to do is sanitise the CFC without recirculating through it.
If I were to boil up a couple of gallons of water and just let that drain through would that be sufficient?
I know I can't use StarSan to sanitise the CFC as it chews on the copper pipe but is there something else I could use that would do the job?
Many thanks . aamcle
