Safe to use these screw caps?

For my second batch of EW apfelwine, I chose to buy juice from sprouts that came in glass gallon jugs so I can bottle in the same containers. I thought there would be no issue but after reading some other threads about not having an air tight seal, im l beginning to think these are useless. Also, I am not carbonating this batch so pressure should not be an issue.

Based on the images, should I be fine or do,i need to hold off till I get some proper bottles?

If it’s a still product, I don’t really see any issue — other than drinking a gallon of apfelwein at a sitting (or at least in a few days).

So I wouldn't be able to let it sit like my other batch that's in regular capped beer bottles?

I just meant you’ll need to drink it relatively quickly once you’ve opened a bottle.

careful... this is a violation of federal law and your local excise police can confiscate it and cite you.

27CFR24.75:
(a) General. Any adult may, without payment of tax, produce wine for personal or family use and not for sale.
(f) Removal. Wine produced under this section may be removed from the premises where made for personal or family use including use at organized affairs, exhibitions or competitions, such as home winemaker's contests, tastings or judgings, but may not under any circumstances be sold or offered for sale...

That is awesome. A lot has changed since I lived there in Beaverton. Now if only everyone could pump their own gas!

Nope, but I try to point out in cases where someone could unknowingly be subject to penalties by breaking the law. I must file monthly alcohol reports with the TTB and am familiar with the federal regulations surrounding alcohol production, bonding, taxes, etc... Not saying I'm in agreement with all the laws, but I'm in compliance.
