Best way to find out is to try it yourself. I value the majority of the individuals perceptions here but they are just that, individual perceptions.

Go read the "beers you've dumped thread" and you'll see just how varied the tastes are here.

So, will it work? Yes.

Will it taste okay? That depends on you and how you manage your fermentations.

I've used the S23 yeast for a Pils. The beer ended up a little malty, attenuation could have been better. HOWEVER, it was still a tasty beer, and some of my methods could have been a little better. I did an extract brew without a late extract add, and I also only topped up to 4 1/2 gallons instead of 5 because the OG I was shooting for would have been too low if I filled up to 5 gallons.

To me, for a dry yeast, it worked out OK.
