so we just got briess rye lme in our local shop and i was thinking of making a rye ipa what do you think of the following:
3.3lbs briess cbw rye lme
3lbs light dme
1oz simcoe @ 60min.
1oz simcoe @ 30min.
1 oz cascade @ 5min
1oz cascade@dry hop
thanks for any ideas

Rye malt extract is already cut (I think it's only ~20% rye), so maybe you can just use it entirely.

Also, that's pretty light on gravity for an IPA. More like a basic rye pale ale, which is fine. I don't the IBUs or anything (45-50?), but that's not a bad hop combo.

You could also toss in some specialty grains (crystal?) but if so I'd keep it light.

BTW, Northern Brewer's Rye Pale Ale it is pretty much like yours except (a) only rye extract and (b) different hops. But it is just 6 lbs extract, no specialty grains, hops, clean yeast (Safale 05 would be good).

I was only going to use 1 can rye for the first batch but if it goes well i'll switch to 2 I always adjust finale batch size to hit my target OG. in this case I was thinking 1060 but maybe I'll throw an extra pound of dry in
