Hey everyone,
My name is Dustin Kirk. I just purchased a brewing kit and a recipe kit from Midwest Supplies.
My first attempt will be a clone of NewCastle. I am going to call it "KirkCastle" of course!

I have no idea how it is going to turn out, but I have done my homework and I expect it to at least turn out to be drinkable.

Wish Me luck!!

Welcome - lots of us Chicago area guys around here. If you read the first chapter of howtobrew.com and follow Palmer's advice, you'll be just fine. This stuff isn't rocket surgery.

Welcome! That's a good style to start with. But before you begin - Do you have any idea how addictive this hobby can be?
Cheers!

Hi Dustin, welcome to the forums. Making beer is a great hobby. There is a lot to learn and learning is fun..............right? :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I will make sure to keep you all updated on my first go.
Now I am off to read the huge amount of tips and tricks here.

welcome! I am a rookie brewer myself, so let us know how your batch goes. Which kit did you buy from the MWS website? I am looking for a kit myself.
