Has anyone tried these for grains or hops during the boil? I bought them online just assuming that they were like any other muslin bag. When I get them in the mail, I was a little puzzled and wanted to see if anyone else had used them.

The drawstring seems pretty frail. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to make sure it closes so nothing gets out. Not sure if it really needs to be closed or not. I'm assuming that with a standard muslin bag that sometimes things get through the bag.

Anyone else try these?

I have used them for hops, worked fine, pretty much the same as a normal muslin bag tied in a knot. I would not worry about it.

Never used those particular bags but I've found that regular muslin "socks" from my LHBS tend to let a lot of hop residue out. I use nylon draw string bags. They are very sturdy and fine meshed. No hops escape and I've used them for dozens of brews and they are still going strong.
