He was the first Bond that I knew as well. I don't know that I've seen any of his work outside of the 007 movies. He definitely left an impression from that work.

Roger Moore as 007 was a joke...which I guess was the point.

But "Bond Girl" Tanya Roberts' 1982 Playboy appearance transformed me from child to man!

The first movie I ever went to without my parents was" For your eyes only" With my brother. I loved Roger Moore as James Bond and it took till my later years to appreciate Sean Connery

Not to mention he just really seemed like a nice guy....RIP Rodger Moore

He was also in one of the Cannonball Run movies essentially playing a Bond-like character.

He was my first Bond as well and I liked the sci-fi stuff from his movies but as I grew older, I discovered the Connery movies and like them much better. The Moore movies did have some really cool stunts, though. Moore came off more as an aristocratic Bond compared the others.

I'm really saddened by this news. I was home sick yesterday, and now I feel like I should have been watching Bond movies rather than Breaking Bad.

Farewell Mr Bond. I grew up with 8 different Bonds.

Some were better than others. But of the top ones, Connery, Moore, Brosnan and Craig, I feel all of those did great and brought a slightly different swagger to the character. Connery was sophisticated, Moore was sophisticated and suave, Brosnan was debonair and Craig modern combat athletic. If my feeble descriptions (fumbling for the right wording) convey anything.

Dalton was good but not memorable and I really don't remember much about Lazenby which probably indicates why he only did one film.

The Persuaders was the first thing that came to mind, with Tony Curtis. He'll be missed.

Lazenby is interesting, because when my daughter and I st down to watch all the Bond films, I expected his movie to be the bomb out of most of them, but it ended up being one of my favorites.

He was a "Scotsman" bond, I think. I remember he wore a kilt. His story was the love story that ended tragically, and kind of solidified Bond as emotionally detached.

Anyway, I thought his movie was pretty good. Never got to know Brosnan that well, but I really dig Craig as Bond, because I think his movies generally got back to the Connery storyline, with less "fantastical" action, but with plenty of action. He is also smooth and suave, like Bond should be, and also unfeeling, as Bond had become. I think he is really the best combination of the Bond characteristics.

Unfortunately, I think his Bond movies are starting to evolve more into the over-the-top, unbelievable movies that many of the older Bond films turned into, as they try to one-up themselves.

Yes, they have to scale back the "over the top"

Sir. Roger Moore was my favorite Bond. Purely because of how he approached Bond as a character. Connery was more of a in your face, get what he wants, womanizer. Seriously watch Connery. He forced himself onto more women than I can count.

Moore would reel you in with his charm and humor. The women came to him. Sure his gadgets were probably some of the most ridiculous things you will ever see, but he always found humor in them and made it fun to watch. I mean come on. Look at his last movie. Christopher Walken was the bad guy Max Zorin...

I agree on Lazenby's film being one of the most memorable. He would have actually been a great Bond if his ego didnt go to his head, and Connery didnt agree to come back. One of my favorite plots as well for OHMSS.

Dalton was all about being serious. He was only Bond for 2 films, and Living Daylights was probably his best performance.

Brosnan was the Bond I grew up with. I enjoyed GoldenEye immensely. Tomorrow Never Dies was meh. I really liked how they brought in Valentin as a repeat badguy / unwilling aid to Bond.

Craig is doing a brilliant Job playing Bond. He is a mix of Connery and Brosnan with some of the seriousness of Dalton. Through it all I'll always have a soft spot for the over-the-top villains that Moore went up against. Baron Samedi, and Jaws were my favorites.

Moore also had some of the best Bond women hands down. Craig has had maybe one good one? Brosnan had Sophie Marceau as Elektra King. Dalton didnt have anyone of note. Lazenby had a gaggle of women in one film. Connery... Tough to say which was his best. Always was a fan of ***** Galore and Domino.

Roger Moore was bond for me too. His early Bond performances were great, Live and Let Die, will always be my favorite Bond movie. It wasn't until Moore got older that the silly gadgets started showing up. Moonraker and Octo***** have got to be the two worst Bond films. The crocodile sub, the worst gadget of all time.

When I watch the old 007 Moore movies nowadays, all I see is a creepy old man hitting on young girls. Most of those movies were absolutely absurd as well. I'm not a fan of his cardboard quality acting either. I really can't believe he was Bond for so long. Wow. Guess I should find something nice to say... :ban:

When I was young though, he was my favorite Bond. Mostly because he was the only one I knew back then, so he won by default. Now I would say Lazenby, probably because "On Her Majesty's" is my favorite Bond flick. Way underrated and definitely worth the watch.

Moore was Bond when I was growing up. I think Connery was the better Bond, but Live & Let Die was my favorite Bond film, until Casino Royale (which I liked as a 'beginnings' story, he first gets his 00 License to Kill at the start of the movie, but doesn't earn the theme music until the end)

LaLD is still my favorite Bond movie theme song, but Casino Royale is up there too, especially with Chris Cornell's recent passing.

LaLD has my favorite Bond villain, Yahpet Kotto x2!

my favorite Bond girl, Jane Seymour as Solitaire. again, until Casino Royale, because Eva Green

and the absolute best boat chase scene ever filmed. for a while, that jump held the world record for longest boat jump

Craig just killed it in Casino Royale. It far surpassed any of the other ones. It wasn't just Craig, though: the whole movie was an order of magnitude better than anything that came before it.

I forget which one it was, but the best opening scene (after Casino, of course, with the parkour scene) was the one where Bond was skiing down a mountain backwards and shooting the skiers behind him. Haha.

I used to like moonraker, but it looks REALLY stupid now, with that giant dude Jaws overacting all the time.

To be fair TeeHee in Live and Let Die was just as bad of a character as JAWS. At lease Richard Kiel as Jaws came back and eventually became a good guy. Yes he was comical but he had some sinister elements that were meant to really make him into a world-class henchman.

Theme Song for me hands down is Live and Let Die. You know my name was my favorite of the Daniel Craig films.

In contention is The Man with the Golden Gun. Come on now, that was probably the funniest chorus in any song... "Love is required, whenever he's been hired, he comes before the kill..."

Seriously....

LaChiffre (SP?) is one of my favorite villians. He was in Casino Royale. That was a REALLY good re-introduction to Bond films, IMO.

Jaws wasn't a villian, though. I think he was just a henchman. Probably my favorite henchman. I liked when he bit through that cable and took off with that girl. Funny stuff.

Call me surprised then ;)

I'm sure it holds a fair amount of nostalgia for many men of a certain age.

When my daughter and I were watching Bond start to finish, we had to put the brakes on during the Moore movies.

I admit I cringed a bit inside.

You know, I think I'm a movie behind. I'm not sure I've seen the latest Bond film. I better research.

Spectre is the most recent Bond Film... Pretty good honestly. Christoph Waltz plays an excellent Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Oh and he has the cat.

Yeah, I have that on my server. Just need to find time to watch it. Good to know it's a decent flick. I remember reviews weren't so good for one of the recent Bond movies, but I thought all of them so far were good.

I think it has to do with the fact that critics are looking at the new bond flicks as more of a comparison to the Jason Bourne series of movies. Obviously its not, but thats what people are doing. The plot has a few holes in it, yes, but mostly its a very entertaining movie, although the ending is slightly unbelievable. I'll give you a hint. 380 ACP vs Helicopter...

Spectre is not as good as Casino Royale, but much better than Quantum of Solace (which was horrible, IMO)

Maybe not as good as Skyfall? Which I thought was merely OK

For Craigs movies. Agree. Best is Casino Royale, then Skyfall, then Spectre, Quantum of Solace... Absolutely horrible.

Hmmm I think this opens up an interesting discussion then... Lets parlay it into this.

If Craig's worst Bond flick was QoS...

Brosnan's was...Die Another Day
Dalton's was... Living Daylights
Moore's was... Octopu$$y
Connery's was... You only Live Twice (I was really torn on this one. I almost said Never Say Never Again)

Can't do Lazenby's because he only had 1 and it was pretty good in the general context of it. It might not even be fair to do Dalton either...

Then the Bond movies should win hands down. The Bourne movies were a yawn fest. I actually walked out of the last one and I never walk out of a movie. The Bourne movies were Bourne in name only. Sorry for the rant, back to Bond and Roger Moore.
