refrigerator at 45-50F, freezer temps ???

Hey folks:
To those of you that have converted a regular refrigerator to a kegerator: What temps does the freezer hold if your fridge is set to 45-50F. I'm thinking it will not freeze?? Or are they controlled separately? If I convert an old fridge I would like to store my hops in the freezer. If it still freezers. Thanks Charlie
