Has anyone used this malt that has a picture of the color it produces? I'm thinking of combining this with some pilsner for a special project brew, and I'm wondering just how "red" it makes the final product.

Good timing. I took this picture earlier today. It is an IPA with mostly pilsner and red x (super tasty). Here is the grain bill:

I'll post the full recipe over in the recipe section later tonight because it came out really tasty. First IPA of my own design that is worth sharing. It actually came out really clear, which doesn't show in the pics. This pour was right after I moved the keg around a bunch, so it isn't as clear. The red x really added the orange to it with this grain bill, but with some backlight it is more red, and more red when clearer. I have done a red-x smash too and it came out pretty red, darker than what you see in some pics because I did a decoction boil with it, but still pretty red. No pics though.

I have a smash going with 100% red x and Amarillo. Waiting on the kegerator/kegs (no more bottling!) to arrive next week before I can share pics, but the color, from what I've seen, is a fairly dark red (in a smash).

With that being said, my experience is limited with this grain, so take my word with a grain of salt.

I can post a pic of it in the carboy if that helps.
Cheers

For some reason I can't see the pics or the bill:confused:

yes.... that appears to me more of an orange/amber color which I have found is common with maris otter it seems, even though you only used 14%...maybe that mixed with the red x gave it that appearance. My grain bill for something I am working on is 4# pilsner and 5# red X, 1# rye, and .5# carapils....so I am hoping for more of a light reddish color.
