So I want to brew a red rocket clone, and found:Jamils recipe.

He says he used three yeast strains: American Ale (Wyeast Labs #1056), California Ale (White Labs #WLP001), and SafAle US-05 (Fermentis #US-05)

I did some research on using multiple strains and people were saying that one would usually dominate, and also to be careful about which ones you mix.

So my questions are:
1. Does mixing these strains make sense?
2. If I was to use all three, do I make a single starter with all three?
3. If I only use one strain, which would be recommended for this beer?

Thanks!

Jeff

They are basically the same yeast strain by different manufacturers.

If you read all the way to the bottom of the recipe you will see this..

3 yeast choices are given, Choose one.

I just brewed this beer and it finished fermenting. I used the WLP001 and got about 78% attenuation. It finished about 7%. Looking forward to getting this carbed up.

BTW... just use one of those! :)

Just finished relistening to this show this morning on my way to work in anticipation of brewing. He gave three yeast recommendations tochoose from. He used whit labs wlp001.
