Red Mild - anyone got a good recipe?

uh, pretty much what the title says ... :)

Making lots of beer for a block party in a few months. Seems like most Milds 'round these parts are browns. I'm going for a red!

There are lots of recipes on the interwebz for Sarah's Ruby Mild, but looking at the recipe, doesn't really look like it'd be too red.

Magnolia brewpub in town serves a pretty good red mild, so I'm also thinking about shooting them an e-mail. But thought I'd see what the wizards here have to say first!

You probably want to stay at 11 to 12 Lovibond.

Mash @ 154F for a solid mouthfeel - otherwise with a rather lowish 1.038 OG it will be watery.

Use an english yeast with plenty of character, ferment in right around 70F (but not higher).

Cool, that one looks good! Basically an Orfy's mild (the only Mild I've made so far, though I've made it twice now) with a reduced amount of specialty grains. Got a bunch of washed WLP028 in the fridge, which works great on maltier brews.

I don't think 11 or 12 SRM will give you red the red you are looking for. From my experience, a nice red hue hovers around 14-18 SRM. I would suggest using a small amount of roasted barley (similar to what many irish red's use) in place of the chocolate malt. Crystal 120 also gives off a nice red color as well and would still definitely be in style.
 
This is a mild I brewed a couple months ago. It clocks in at 17L according to Beersmith. Rather dark, I was shooting more for ruby red.

There's a "pot light" dead center behind it. (and a few in front)
