I'm looking to get a new brew underway this weekend and I would like to try to get something like a blue moon. My buddy and I have come up with a little recipe and and I would like to run it by ya'll too see what you think. its a pretty basic, no frills recipe. any suggestions would be great thanks.

5 Gal batch:

~6 lbs wheat malt extract
1 oz corriander
1 oz sweet orange peel
0.5-1.0lbs flaked oats (steep @155 for 30 min)
1 oz Saaz hops (60 min)
Belgian Wheat Yeast

My buddy suggested the flaked oats. I thought flaked wheat may be better. Does either impart a certain flavor on the beer? I just kind of want them to give the beer that nice haze. Thanks once again for any imput. :mug:

i was hoping i could just steep them for a half hour to an hour......but then again, i am still a rookie and still don't know much.
