I have been wanting to "dry bean"(I know there is something dirty in there somewhere) a blonde ale since reading Mike's post at TMF.
But I want to try raw beans in the name of experimentation.
Has anyone ever used unroasted coffee before?
Any info or opinions welcome.
BTW , it will be a 5ltr batch,aiming for 1.050 og,bout 20IBUs.
Was thinking 80% pils,15% wheat and 5% oats.
Cheers

I have not tried them in beer...

However, I roast coffee at home.

Green coffee beans taste like grass...

I'm not sure if they would contribute much to a beer.

I try dry hopping with them once into a pale light beer. It tasted like coffee grounds and had an onion aroma. YMMV but I won't do it again. I'll have to read what Mike did differently.

Not gonna work. "Green" coffee doesn't taste like coffee until it's roasted.

Now get some green beans and roast them yourself... and you're good to go.

You would also be suprised on how good that freash coffee is.

Nostrovia.

Edit: I'm not sure you can even grind green coffee, it's pretty darn hard.

I also roast coffee. As The Pol stated, green coffee beans taste like grass. I wouldn't want that in any beer.
