I found some organic rasins at my local trader joes..but they are presurved with sulphur dioxide. Would they be safe to add to my cider in primary or secondary. I'm guessing it would add a little sulfite into the cider.

Thanks!

Dave

I'm pretty sure most dried fruits are treated that way. I've done raisins in primary and other dried fruits in secondary without any issues with stalled fermentations. People have even carbonated their beer by putting 1-2 raisins in each bottle instead of using priming sugar.

Are you just adding raisins for mouthfeel or are you trying to actually get some flavor as well?
