Racking to secondary

Would it be a bad idea to rack to a temperary vessel in order to clean the primary vessel and then re-rack to it again to be used for secondary.

The reason I ask is the bucket i have is pretty scratched up and I dont want to take any chances. Plus, I want to be able to see whats going on.

Or, should I just suck it up and get a second carboy.

I'd recommend the second carboy. Less work and you'll use more than once.
 
That and you most likely want to minimize the amount of times that you move your beer in order to avoid oxidation, at least from what I have read.
