Will it harm my brew in any way if i put steel wool (no chemicals and sanatized of course) on the end of my racking cane?

You can use Stainless Steel scrubbies without any problem, I wouldn't use steel wool though. Its not too hard to find the stainless ones.

It would be safer if you just used a Paint Strainer bag from Lowes or Homedepot.
Just sanitize it and a rubber band and put it on the end of your racking cane

This is what I do. I cut a piece of the bag to about 5"x5" and rubberband that to my auto siphon/racking cane and it works great. I did try the SS scrub pad early on and I quickly "scrubbed" that idea.
