So the IPA Recipe I have decided to use calls for 2 lb 2oz of light dry malt extract and 4 lbs 2oz of light liquid malt extract. As of now I have 3.3 lb's of liquid extract and a 3 lb bag dry malt extract. What would be the best way of going about my recipe? 3.3 lb of liquid and 3 lb of dry, or just use the 2 lb of dry that the recipe calls for and leave out the extra pound of liquid? Thanks!

1 lb LME has 36 gravity points (when disolved in 1 gallon of water will have a gravity of 1.036).

1 lb DME has 46 gravity points.

2 lbs 2 ozs DME is 98 points. 4 lbs 2 ozs LME is 148 pts. Total pts for 5 gallons is 246, or an OG of 1.049.

3.3 lbs LME is 109 pts. To get the same gravity you will need 137 pts from DME, which happens to be almost exactly 3 lbs.

Use it all.
