I also did 7/8". Best way is to wait till they get there, Measure the shaft and drill what ever size allows the to fit snug.

This make WAY TOO MUCH sense. What this forum be without impatient people like me who want answers NOW and don't want to wait? I ask you what would it be?

Thanks I too have read 7/8" but some websites say 1 1/8". I have a great 7/8" hole saw.

Guess I will wait.........
 
I use a 1 inch spade bit the 7/8ths was to small. I guess mine is thicker than most but its also stubby;)


I would suggest that you try the hole on some scrap wood first.
