I just used my copper wort chiller for the first time. There seems to be a white chalky residue left on the copper. Is this normal?

It formed after I used it.

I built this thing myself and I wanted to make sure I used the right kind of copper. It said "Refridgeration" on the package.

Is this normal??? Has no one else had this happen?

yes its normal. just needs to be cleaned. mine does the same. i soak it in starsan for 1/2 hour and its sparkles like new again. more then likely there is NOT a finish on your copper and if there was it would flake off, so i wouldn't worry about it.

Yep, it happens. Make sure you clean it before using. It should stop happening after a while I think. I use a CFC and have not seen this on my chiller, but have seen it on various other copper tubing. If you clean well and dry right after it should not happen.
