this subject may have been discussed before, not sure... my problem is that my OG readings are higher than estimated in beersmith.
here is the recipe but it seems to be the same for most
6.60 lbPale Liquid Extract (8.0 SRM)Extract72.5 %0.75 lbCaramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM)Grain8.2 %0.75 lbRye Malt (4.7 SRM)Grain8.2 %0.50 lbChocolate Malt (450.0 SRM)Grain5.5 %0.25 lbBlack (Patent) Malt (500.0 SRM)Grain2.7 %1.00 ozTarget [11.00%] (60 min)Hops27.8 IBU0.50 ozFuggles [4.50%] (15 min)Hops2.8 IBU1 PkgsCooper Ale (Coopers #-)Yeast-Ale
this is for a 23 litre recipe (6 US Gallons)
using beersmith OG 1.041
my wort reading 1.056
I steep my grains and then pour hot water over them several times, im wondering if im getting more sugar out of them or? or my software isnt calabarated properly... I dont realy care because I generaly do 6 gallon recipes and generaly add a base of 3 ltrs (6.6 lbs) of malt extract.
any thoughts on this would be cool thanks.
