my brew buddy bought a pumpkin ale kit. he is supposed to get a couple of cans of pumpkin for it.what kind of pumpkin do you guys use? i suggested we use fresh pumpkin or butternut squash which is what i use when i make pies. is freah better tham canned for beer? because i know it is for pies.

I just kegged my first pumpkin beer last week. I used fresh pumpkin. Sliced it up (2 inch or so strips), covered in brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Baked in oven for about 90 minutes. I don't have a canned pumpkin batch to compare it to but I really like how this turned out.

I just cracked a maple pumpkin beer it's one of the best beers I've made. I used two cans and baked them at 350 for 30 minutes.
