I just ordered some 22 oz bottles from a brew store and was wondering if i should take the time to give them a good cleaning or trust that they are clean and just sanitize them? They look relatively clean but my eyes have fooled me before.

ALWAYS clean them first - even if it's just a soak in a tub of oxy-clean or PBW

Yeah, at the very least, they are likely to be pretty dusty. You probably don't need to break out the bottle brush, but spend a couple minutes and wash them out.

With brand spankin' new bottles, I'd just run them in the dishwasher on the sanitize setting. And I may get struck by lightning for saying so, but I think a healthy sanitizing with iodine should be just fine if the dishwasher isn't available.
