This is probably a dumb question, and i assume it to be true, but can any corn sugar be used for priming or is there a specific type that works best? Thanks for the help!

Your best bet is the powdered dextrose from the hombrew shop; mostly because you know what volume to add to achieve the carb levels you want. Ex- 1 cup is typical carbonation, 3/4 for english, etc. If you use another type of sugar you'll most likely be winging it and may end up with flat beer, or bottle bombs.

You can carbonate with other sugars. May change beer flavor a little. If you search around here or on google you can probably find priming amounts of different sugars.
