When you prime a keg with sugar, do you pressurize it and purge the o2 the same way as normal?

After that, do you have to leave it hooked up to the co2 line?

Sorry I have never used sugar when kegging!

You don't need to keep the CO2 line attached, because you're not putting CO2 in it. If you want to, though, it won't hurt. You should purge the O2, just to prevent the beer from oxidizing.
 
I purge & then take off the CO2. It also seats the lid tightly. The slightest leak will prevent it from carbonating.
