Possible Fermentation Vessel

Has anyone thought of using one of these as a fermenter?

They look very much like the containers that my LHBS uses for LME.

I'm trying to move up to 10 gallon batches so I need to find something new to use for fermentation. And as much as I would love to, I'm not ready to sink the money into a conical just yet.

I think there's a couple pics on here of people using them...IIRC, they got a deal on them from the LHBS...SO it's not unheard of...

I've gotten several from Homebrewhq.com my local lhbs.

They are fine if you are willing to get all the dried gunk off the top. PBW and hot water should get all the crud out.

I've got a diy keg washer using a sump pump and it seems to circulate enough water around to get all the crud out.
