I am new to brewing for "real" (former Mr. Beer brewer). I just recently bottled up my porter/stout experiment. I actually mixed some premade Mr. Beer American Porter HME (2 cans) to a Brewers Best Irish Stout mix. Here is what I used.
FERMENTABLES 3.3 lb. Dark LME 2.0 lb. Dark DME .5 lb. Maltodextrin and 2 cans of Mr. Beer American Porter HME.
SPECIALTY GRAINS 12 oz. Caramel 60L 4 oz. Roasted Barley 4 oz. Black Patent
HOPS 1 oz. Bittering (60 min boil)
.5 oz. Aroma (10 min boil)
Yeast:
Saf-04 (dry)
I'm wondering if anyone has ever mixed Mr. Beer HME cans into their wort from another kit. I had them laying around the house and thought "Why not". When I bottled the beer had an amazingly sweet yet subtle stout taste. Almost reminiscent of a milk stout. Thoughts anyone?
